I went on the hike to Glen Falls (TN-58, Chattanooga, TN) with a tour company called Experience Chattanooga. Being a solo traveler on this trip, I wanted to see some of the waterfalls in the area, but I didn’t feel comfortable hiking on my own. So it was nice to have Hope and Ryan to pick me up, take me everywhere I needed to go, and drop me back off after our adventure.

Glen Falls (TN-58/Ochs Hwy, Chattanooga, TN – on the same road you take to get to Rock City)

It’s a fairly easy walk to see the waterfall and the cascades above it. There are some hills to go up and down, some stone stairs, and some rocks to walk on or around, but if you take your time, it isn’t bad at all. (If you’d like to see how I rate trails, click here.)

There was a storm the night before we hiked, so there were a lot more branches on the trail than normal. We also had to climb over a tree, but I’m not sure that’s completely normal either.

Because of the storms though, the water was flowing really beautifully.

Of course I found some moss along the way.

The only thing I will say about the parking for this waterfall is that it’s tiny. It’s basically a pull off on the side of the road that will fit two or three cars (depending on how big they are and how aware of others people are when they park). Going during the week, and in the off season, is definitely a bonus. =)

And if you want someone to show you around, or take you on other adventures in and around Chattanooga, I highly recommend Experience Chattanooga.

Ryan and Hope have lived in the area most of their lives and Hope has been hiking the trails for almost that long. They know where to go for the best views, how to find the best hike for everyone’s skill level, and they have all of the proper certifications to be on the trails and hike them safely. Not to mention they are a lot of fun to spend the day with! =)

They also have great recommendations for other things to do while you’re in the Chattanooga area as well.
